Abstract

Armando Petrucci, one of the most influential palaeographers worldwide, has profoundly revolutionized our knowledge about the cultural and social motivations that moved the development of the Latin alphabet in western Europe. Here the A. tries to enlighten a specific portion of his extensive knowledge and teaching, focusing on the idea of ‘traccia’, and following it through the works of a selection of younger scholars.
