Abstract

Like few scholars of his and other historiographical disciplines, Petrucci has helped to shed light on the ways in which the structures of thought are reflected in the production and organisation of texts, in the architecture of books, and in the traces of life that time transforms from everyday evidence into monuments of an era. This is an anthropological look, for which the relationship with the linguist Giorgio Raimondo Cardona was fundamental. For both, writing is a complex structure through which societies control the knowledge systems of reality.
