Abstract

This text traces the relationship between Armando Petrucci – and palaeography – and Italian literature, starting with a seminar held in 1982 at the University of Rome. Throughout his career, Petrucci crossed the boundaries of individual disciplines, coming to interpret writing as a social, historical and cultural fact. This has also led to important acquisitions in the field of literary history studies, such as the identification of the handwriting belonging to a mercantile sphere of the famous codex Vat. Lat. 3793.
