Abstract

Along with Dante and Leopardi, Ariosto has been one of Luigi Blasucci’s best-loved authors in his long scholarly career. This essay examines the collection of Blasucci’s studies on the Orlando Furioso, published in 2014, identifying the metric-stylistic approach as their most prominent trait on different levels. Heir to the lesson of Mario Fubini, to whom he compares himself in the final chapter, Blasucci has consolidated a line of research destined to receive a large following among Ariosto scholars, making them aware of the unavoidability of the metrical factor in any investigation on the poem.
