Abstract

The article examines Luigi Blasucci’s studies on Eugenio Montale’s poetry, in particular those collected in the volume: Gli oggetti di Montale (2002). Blasucci’s essays are analysed in order to bring out their common elements, in particular the importance of the poetics of the object and the constant reference to models such as Dante and Leopardi, which are also crucial for Blasucci’s critical work. Through these essays, the article delves into Blasucci’s method and style as a literary critic, emphasising the importance of the didactic dimension. The article also takes into consideration more recent studies by Blasucci, mostly dedicated to the texts of Montale’s last books, from Satura onwards; and Blasucci’s interest in the figure of Irma Brandeis, who inspired many of Montale’s poems.
